Home learning- Children will have a number of opportunities to continue their engaging topic learning with you at home. Each time homework is allocated it will include a must do literacy and maths task to consolidate skills taught in school in which you may like to support them if they ask for help. The other activities are optional however these will encourage the children to apply their exciting knowledge to the real world. The home learning task sheets will be sent home with your child in their homework book and can also be found at the bottom of this page. The tasks allocated to children are intended for them to complete independently, however they wish to discuss or seek reassurance from you when they are completing tasks and your support is appreciated. During class time, children will have opportunities to share their findings with peers to help us all develop our learning!
Home Reading - In Year Three children are expected to read regularly and record this with a parent/carer signature on their colourful bookmark. Reading 25 times each half term will see children rewarded with a certificate. The importance of reading carefully and fluently as children progress in their learning cannot be underestimated. Regular practise enables children to develop their fluency and comprehension of what they read, as well as develop their vocabulary. This in turn enables them to access all aspects of the curriculum we learn at school and to pursue learning following their own interests at home. Children are expected to change their reading books independently and will have an opportunity to do so each day.
