Dear Parents & Carers,
COVID-19 SCHOOL CLOSURE
Following the Prime Minister’s announcement this evening I am frustrated to share that the school will now be closed tomorrow. School Places for Key Worker Children & Vulnerable Children As during the first lockdown, schools have been asked to remain open for the children of Key Workers. The timing of the decision this evening gives me no choice but to delay the start of these school places until Wednesday 6 January. I apologise for any inconvenienced caused to everyone this affects.
I will be sending out a KEY WORKER ELIGIBILITY FORM for parents and carers to complete (shown below). I will be using this to determine wither your child qualifies for a place in school – If you are a key worker please complete this form whether you wish to take up the school place or not. I will confirm arrangements in place for you tomorrow as early as I possibly can.
Remote Learning - I will share an overview of our Remote Learning Strategy Overview with Parents and carers tomorrow. We will be using Google Classroom and you will be able to log into this classroom using your child’s unique username and password (these will be sent to you tomorrow). The tasks and activities will be laid out in a logical, accessible way and will provide a better mechanism for teachers to assess and provide feedback on your child’s learning. The platform supports the opportunity for more virtual interaction too. I am aware, from our Autumn data collection, of some individuals who expressed they had limited access to the internet and/or devices and we will have an alternative option to offer you.
Nursery Provision - The recent announcement indicates that Nursery provision can remain open, however as our Nursery is attached to the school I need to seek further clarification whether this principle still applies. I will share any new information I receive with parents and carers of Nursery children as soon as I know more.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Kristian Hewitt Headteacher
