September will be a very busy time for your child starting school and we want them to be prepared and ready for the challenge!
Over the holidays there are some things you can do:
Play - we learn through play and doing, allow you child the time to explore their fascinations through their play
Counting - everything, everywhere any time!
Learn some shapes - keep an eye out for them everywhere!
Write their name - or some of the letters in their name!
Encourage independence - doing up coats/shoes/going to the toilet.
Learn rhymes and songs - off by heart, make up dances, challenge each other to a dance off!
Talk about school and what they will do - use positive language and use some of our resources to help talk about it.
Treasure Boxes - find out more below!
We use EYLog to take photos and record our observations. You will get an email soon with your login details and information about the app.
In the meantime we would love to prepare our classrooms with pictures of your child. If your child is new to the school (and does not attend our Nursery), please send a picture of them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please contact the school office regarding orders. Your child will need a book bag and a PE kit.
The PE Kit, only needs to have a green t-shirt and black shorts. Your child will not need trainers or plimsols.
We can't wait to find out more about your child! This activity will also help them settle in; talk about themselves with our adults and their peers.
We look forward to meeting all the children in September, we're sad we can't show you all around yet. Use these pictures and videos to help prepare:
Take a look around the Reception Setting and become familiar with all the areas you will be able to explore!
