Mary Bassett Lower School
Pastoral Support
At Mary Bassett Lower School we want everyone involved with our school to feel well supported. We believe that good pastoral support focuses on nurturing the individual needs of each child. We aim to build trusting and empathic relationships with all our pupils and their families.
Together our team works with children so they can lead fulfilling and balanced lives at school and beyond.
All our staff model to children how to look after themselves and others; encouraging them to seek help, support or advice whenever they need it.
Pastoral care underpins personal development and we know from experience and research that with outstanding pastoral care, students feel they belong and their self-esteem is able to flourish because they feel valued and cared for.
Supporting the pastoral needs of children sometimes involves working with external agencies. In these situations we ensure that a confidential, professional, non-judgemental and sensitive service is provided.
We are able to support you as the parent / carer and offer signposting to external services if required. Sometimes it may just be a chat that you need, someone who is able to listen and support.
We have recently updated our website to provide parents and carers with information on parenting and family life, so please keep an eye on the site. In addition we will be running short workshops on some of the approaches we use to support our children.
If you would like further information please contact Mrs Midgley, Pastoral Manager either via email, Pastoral@Marybassett.co.uk or front desk.
